Pet Symmetry started with the best and simplest of intentions: as an excuse to goof off. In 2013, the band's three members, Evan Weiss (Into It. Over It., Their / They're / There, Couplet), Erik Czaja (Dowsing) and Marcus Nuccio (Ratboys), started kicking around ideas that were more lighthearted in nature than their full-time projects. Almost by accident, the result of their collective fun morphed into something real, and became Pet Symmetry.
The Chicago-based power-pop trio released their first EP, Two Songs About Cars. Two Songs With Long Titles. in May 2013 and since then, have released three albums and five EPs. In 2017, they released their second album, Vision via Polyvinyl Records, which adopts the moodiness and heartfelt tones it's creators are best known for. Their most recent release in 2021, Future Suits via the community-run record label Storm Chasers LTD came after the uncertainty of the pandemic. Future Suits was written to reflect a time of misery, confusion, and pain, yet still has a lively and upbeat attitude. 2025 will be a big year for Pet Symmetry, as their highly anticipated upcoming album, Big Symmetry, will be released on May 2nd, 2025 via Storm Chasers LTD and Asian Man Records. Big Symmetry was written in about seven days' time and recorded across four years - amid engagements, weddings, and other music projects. It's a record about LOVE. BIG love. Two singles from the album, "Big Steve" and "Big Island", are out now.
