Laufey "A Matter of Time: The Final Hour (Deluxe Edition)"

There are deluxe editions… and then there are victory laps.
Laufey has announced A Matter of Time: The Final Hour, a new deluxe edition of her GRAMMY®-winning album, arriving April 10 via AWAL and Vingolf Recordings. Alongside the announcement comes brand new track ‘How I Get’, the first taste of four previously unreleased songs set to feature on the expanded record.
Produced with longtime collaborator Spencer Stewart and GRAMMY®-winning producer Aaron Dessner, the deluxe edition builds on an album that has already defined a landmark chapter in Laufey’s career. A Matter of Time took home Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album at the 68th GRAMMY® Awards earlier this year, her second win in the category following 2024’s Bewitched, which made her the youngest artist to receive the honour.
‘How I Get’ leans into emotional contradiction. Laufey describes the track as exploring the tension between discipline and surrender, that moment where self-control quietly unravels in the presence of one particular person. Sonically, it sits comfortably within her jazz- and classical-infused pop world, pairing sweeping melody with her signature lyrical intimacy. It’s poised, romantic and slightly self-aware, a combination she’s made entirely her own.
Originally released in August, A Matter of Time debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 and reached No. 1 on the Jazz Albums chart, where it continues to sit within the top 10. The deluxe edition retains the original 15 tracks and adds four new songs, further expanding a project centred on vulnerability, “real love” and emotional growth.
And as if that wasn’t enough for one calendar year, Laufey’s momentum hasn’t slowed. She was recently awarded the Order of the Falcon by Iceland’s President Halla Tómasdóttir, recognising her cultural impact. She’s currently midway through a sold-out UK and European arena run, including two nights at London’s O2, Paris’ Adidas Arena and Dublin’s 3Arena, following sold-out shows at Madison Square Garden and Crypto.com Arena last year.
April doesn’t ease up either. Her live album A Matter of Time: Live at Madison Square Garden arrives April 18 for Record Store Day, and her first children’s book, Mei Mei The Bunny, lands April 21 via Penguin Random House. Casual.
Raised between Reykjavík and Washington, D.C., and trained in piano and cello before studying at Berklee College of Music, Laufey has carved out a rare lane, blending jazz phrasing, orchestral textures and modern pop storytelling into something that feels both timeless and distinctly Gen Z. With nearly seven billion global streams and a social following of 25 million, she’s become one of the few artists capable of having arena crowds sing back intricate jazz scats note-for-note.
