BATTLECRY, initially formed as TRAIN in the mid-1980s in Kortenberg, Belgium, emerged from the ashes of INTEGRATED MIND and OVERDOSE. Founding guitarist Jos Van Geit assembled a lineup that included Chris de Turck (guitar), Johan Reinaertz (drums), Wannes Susant (bass), and vocalist Chris Ketelaer. The band recorded a demo in 1984 and performed extensively throughout Flanders.
In early 1985, TRAIN adopted a heavier metal sound and rebranded as BATTLECRY, making their live debut on April 13, 1985. That summer, they recorded a six-song demo and showcased their talent at the Whiplash Magazine festival alongside acts like AXEL and LIVING DEATH. BATTLECRY gained significant recognition after their song "Excalibur" appeared on the U.S. compilation album Metal Massacre VI, which led to an influx of fan mail from countries like Brazil, the USA, and Italy. The band frequently featured in metal magazines and was often ranked among Belgium's top metal bands. As internal changes occurred, including Johan Susant's departure to CROSSFIRE, BATTLECRY gradually faded from the scene by the late 1980s. Jos Van Geit later contributed to the music industry as a producer and songwriter, nurturing new Belgian talent at JAM Studio. Limited edition of 100 copies on red vinyl, this release includes all of the band's studio recordings, remastered from the best audio sources. A 4-page bookletwith band biography, song lyrics and rare photos, plus a poster and an exclusive woven patch.
