Unofficial UK Import in Heavy duty cardstock gatefold.... To date, there still hasn't been a repress since the original. In 2000, test pressings were made for a repress but the project was abandoned which lead to unofficial copies.
THE STORY OF Ænima ON VINYL....
So the reason why Aenima is so coveted as a legitimate copy is a few reasons.First, obviously, it was never repressed. But there’s a lot of albums that have either never been repressed or pressed at all.
Leads me to the second point, which is a lot longer an explanation.
Aenima’s lacquer was cut at Classic Records. There was actually a planned repress they were going to do in 2000. There’s test presses for it hanging around. It never happened.
Classic Records was bought by Analogue Productions. They’re still in business today and they produce some of the highest quality masters and pressings available. Their reputation is impeccable.
Aenima on vinyl sounds astoundingly good. The mastering work done at Classic Records is top tier.
As good as the original vinyl master is I would love to see a remaster / repress. I also want to see the album on vinyl in more people’s hands. It’s truly a special record and the medium lends itself to the original recordings SO WELL.
I hope Bellman does the lacquer cutting. He did the Lateralus and Fear Inoculum lacquers. The FI cut is so damn good sounding. So is Lateralus which is why it’s such a fucking crime that all we get are the picture discs. At least the latest pressing run of it is more than listenable, especially when compared to previous pressing runs.
