Pelican has always been a band that's not just from Chicago, but distinctly of Chicago. While longtime Pelican fans will find an updated version of the band's ethos - one that's been constantly evolving since its very first EP - its new partnership with Run For Cover Records emphasizes something that's always been implicit to the Pelican formula. On "Flickering Resonance," Pelican allowed itself to look at its music less as a means of hard-earned catharsis, and more as an appreciation for the glimmers of joy that occur even in the bleakest landscapes.
