Originally released in 2001, The Id is the second studio album by Macy Gray, building on the success of her breakthrough debut, On How Life Is. Expanding her distinctive sound, the album blends neo soul, funk, R&B, and hip-hop with Gray's unmistakable vocals and adventurous songwriting. Featuring the singles Sexual Revolution and Sweet Baby, the album draws inspiration from the pioneering sounds of Sly & The Family Stone and Funkadelic, while incorporating contemporary hip-hop and neo-soul influences. The album also features an outstanding list of collaborators, including Questlove, Rick Rubin, Raphael Saadiq, Erykah Badu, Slick Rick, John Frusciante, Angie Stone, and Mos Def, making The Id one of the most ambitious releases of Gray's career. This 25th Anniversary Edition is presented on 180g audiophile pink coloured vinyl, limited to 2,000 individually numbered copies, housed in a deluxe linen laminate sleeve with an insert.
