Despite this being the Smiths' first gig in Germany, there was a great deal of stage climbing, or attempts to do so. It seemed like the habit taken on by the British had crossed over to Europe. Here you have a damn fine selection of short, sharp, snappy Smiths’ songs. You’ll also note that the band repeat tracks as an encore - obviously they didn’t have enough songs back then - finishing on Barbarism Begins At Home which would feature on their 1985 album Meat is Murder. This show in Hamburg was the only concert that The Smiths gave in Germany.
