Alice Phoebe Lou began playing music as a busker after moving from Cape Town to Berlin in 2013 and falling in love with a lifestyle that could be so self-determined. Over time, Alice has slowly learned to follow her own instincts and write without fear of judgment. With five independent album releases under her belt, Alice Phoebe Lou's DIY approach to releasing music is intrinsic to her artistic identity. Ultimately, she hopes that young people “can be inspired by the fact you can do things unconventionally.” “
After five band records, I’ve opened my treasure chest of personal storytelling songs that I’ve built up over a decade. Songs that didn’t make it into other albums, some songs I never thought would see the light of day. I embarked on the brave and thrilling journey of recording these songs as they are, with love and playfulness, simple and all my own. Leaning into imperfection and taking inspiration from some of my biggest influences who have made timeless folk acoustic albums.”
