Named in Pitchfork’s “200 Most Important Artists of the Last 25 Years," the San Franciscan songwriting duo Girls imparted a massive sonic shift on their last 2010 EP, Broken Dreams Club, before breaking up in 2012. The band emerged with a more massive, lusher sound with horns, pedal steel and psychedelic effects throughout. Upon its release, Christopher Owens described the exuberant six songs as a “letter of intent,” “snapshot of the horizon” and “step up” from its stunning predecessor Album.
