Plants vs. Zombies is the very definition of “lightning in a bottle.” Simple to understand but challenging to beat, the game brought a genre typically reserved for only the brainiest of tacticians to the most main that mainstream can get.
On its way to superstardom, PvZ reaped its fair share of accolades, awards, and loads of other laudings. Developer PopCap Games, designer George Fan, and publisher EA Games spun straw into gold with their tower defense title, building a multimedia franchise brick by brick in the process.
Equal parts creepy and playful, the game’s music somehow struck the same whimsical balance as PvZ’s macabre-but-mischevous theming, drawing sounds from marching band music, swing, techno, and more.
It’s both inspired and inspiring, and we at iam8bit are happily inspired to bring it to vinyl for the first time ever. This is the Plants vs. Zombies 2xLP.
Inside its premium packaging, you’ll find two discs (on warfaring Zombie Purple and Plant Green vinyl, of course!), packed with the very best of Shigihara’s now iconic score. All the hits are here — even “Zombies on Your Lawn."
As for that premium packaging, it’s a sight to behold. Soft sculpture artist Modest Monster fabricated (get it?) a felt-fueled scene of intense garden combat and photographed it to perfection; all the models featured on this record are real figures, no rendering required. It’s a fitting tribute to one of gaming’s most beloved titles.
